Constance Talbot

Stephen and I welcome you to visit our 200-year-old home where we practice the ancient arts of pottery and poetry. The poetry and the pottery give us each a range of inner work and community involvement which makes for a life of riding the waves of intense activity, gardening and quiet, steady, stubborn work.

For the last ten years the theme of my work has been cooking pots. The clay is formulated to withstand rapidly changing extremes of temperature. They can be used on direct heat- a gas stovetop (or electric), in the oven, on the grill (gas, charcoal). They have the amazing power to pass through fire and ice without cracking. (Of course, they can still break if you drop them.)

Every piece has passed rigorous testing and is ready to use. People with a sensitivity to metal seem to find it helpful and healthful. I make a variety of Cooking pots Casseroles, Tagines, and fry pans… and this year there is experimenting in new and perhaps surprising directions.
